Christian Bowman Interview

How did you get your role on LOST?

I had met Jack Bender, the exec producer and director, at a Starbucks in Kaneohe, HI. He let me know he still hadn't filled a specific role and invited me in to read for the part of Steve Jenkins. I went in the next day and I got the role after auditioning for him and several producers. I was on set the following morning.

You grew up travelling the world, what was this like?

It opened my eyes up to amazingly beautiful and amazingly ugly parts of humanity in all walks of life. I have seen aspects of the Jet set ultra rich lifestyle and also have seen depravity and starvation in third world countries. I learned alot about people by stepping out of the tourist traps and spending time with locals in alot of different locations. It was difficult to have to move just after making new friends,

Did you enjoy your time on LOST? Was it different from any other work you have done?

Lost was wonderful. It was difficult as a small bit player to hope for a bigger role with such a large cast, but it was a great learning experience. The directors and actors on the show were so unique in their approach to their craft and it was great to watch them in action and be a part of it all.

Do you still watch LOST??

I unfortunately don't watch much TV. Alot of people have gotten mad at me actually because they ask me about my opinions on the character developments and I can't provide much feedback for them. I have the DVD's and have been meaning to devote some time to catching up on the story line.
If so, do you have a favourite episode or character?

What was it like to work with the cast?

The cast was very friendly and had a great time with each other between takes.

Can you tell us a bit about any up and coming work you are doing?

I finished a small recurring role on Prison Break as Agent King during season 3. I had hoped to continue the role, but they dropped the rest of the season after the writers strike and moved production for season 4 and Agent King isn't part of the story any more.
I am slated to start work on a feature film entitled 'Code Enforcer' which I'm looking forward to. There is more details in the synopsis for the movie on IMDB.

Interview with Andy Floyd!

Here is a interview with Andy Floyd who was speaker in the lost experience, enjoy!

Interview King
How did you first get your role as the 'speaker'?
Speaker
Well the name and the role are two different things. I was Speaker first, then I was asked to be sort of the... official "follower" of TLE. I had known Javi (Javier Grillo-Marxuach was a supervising producer on LOST's first 2 seasons) ever since LOST began, ran his fan site, saw him at cons. And one day he calls me up and asks, "Hey, do you wanna do something on-line for LOST?" To which I responded, "DO I!?" He came back with, "I can't tell you what it is yet, but it'll take time and it doesn't pay." I didn't care, I told him that OF COURSE I'd do anything to be part of LOST in any way... and that was...maybe a month before launch.
Interview King
So I'm guessing you were a fan of the show before you took the part?
Speaker
Right. I got into the show because... I like to say "I came for the Fury, and stayed for they Javi." Well, I should say I used to say that as neither writes for the show anymore LMAO - but David Fury was a writer on Buffy and Angel. I was a HUGE fan of his work. PLUS I loved ALIAS so JJ Abrams + Fury was a winning combo for me. And when I heard Paul Dini was writing on the show - I had to see it. Javi was someone I came to know on LOST - but then realized he had written a LOT of shows I had loved over the years so that first year's writing team was pretty magical for me - and it showed in the quality of the program.
Speaker
Hmm... I guess I could have just said, "Yes."
Interview King
lol no that was a lot more intresting
Speaker
Awesome.
Interview King
Did you get any of your infomation to post from offial sources?
Speaker
Sometimes! I was asked to leak things at times, other times I guessed, and other times I hinted using my own discretion - nothing that would violate my NDA. Most of the stuff I posted was NOT dictated, though. Like - after the Jimmy Kimmel incident when Hugh McIntyre was on and said he didn't like LOST... that was really the first BIG moment where fans got confused about WHERE exactly the game was taking place and I did this LONG post about how I thought it meshed. I wasn't asked to do that, I was just trying to calm the fires, move past it, and keep focus on the game. But other times I got things like Glyphs, or was asked yo hint that a commercial might air at some point, etc...
Interview King
Yes there has been a dispute about how 'canon' what you said was. It was seen that as you were being a in-show Character that you were just as canon as the rest of the lost experience, do you know anything about your canon-ness?
Speaker
I was as "canon" as any of the players being "in-character." This is what I know about "me"... and I'm STILL confused! I was told when I first started that one of the reasons they got me to do it instead of someone in-house was because they wanted a FAN - someone who people might recognize and actually follow along with instead of going, "Eh... just a suit faking it!" and skip on by. As we got CLOSER to actually doing the blogs and setting it up, I asked about an avatar and if they needed a picture of me? They said... and this isn't word for word but I'm totally serious... that they couldn't put a picture of me up because I had to remain anonymous.... So they put their own avatar up (the mysterious shadow LMAO!) and I did this dance where I was Speaker but anyone who asked I had to tell them I was a DIFFERENT Speaker than the one posting on other LOST boards.... it was... interesting. Apart from that, I TRIED to be as in-game as possible so I guess you could argue it was canon in the fact that I said it In character!
Interview King
Did you enjoy your time running the website/being speaker?
Speaker
Very yes! Yeah, it was a blast. It was stressful at times but it was like being at the center of this brand new offshoot community that's still kinda together.
Speaker
And the game itself, despite some of the problems, is a positive memory for me. More good than bad, y'know?
Interview King
yer, good to hear you enjoyed it
Interview King
So at the moment you're still running the site unofficially?
Speaker
Yes. Well, not running. I never ran it. I had no power over what the site looked like. The only thing I could do (and still do) is post and moderate comments. And my log-in still works so I try to keep it going for the people who still love commenting there. Well, and for me as well. (Though, I'm sorry for the couple of very long breaks between posts! Hopefully we'll keep those down, now!)
Interview King
And ABC havn't said anything to you?
Speaker
Nope! I'm sure that as long as I bring them traffic and don't say anything stupid they're fine.
Interview King
Are you keeping up with the current part of the lost experience?
Speaker
Dharma Wants You? Oh yeah - but it's not keeping up with me! (J/K - it's slow moving but I'm hoping for ayoff)
Speaker
I'm hoping that Dharma reveals some cool secrets to some of the people they picked and those people in turn reveal those secrets to us.
Interview King
Yes Dharma is looking like its going ot play a big part in the next season.
Speaker
You mean we'll finally learn what "Heuristics" means!? j/k
Interview King
I was thinking more Joop fighting to the death with Vincent
Speaker
LMAO Joop'll walk out in his suit and tie smoking a pipe and explain the secrets of the island in a british accent...and then fling poo at Vincent.
Interview King
lol now back onto topic. If ABC asked you back what would say?
Speaker
Oh, I'd definitely do it. It's too much fun and I'd be following stuff anyway.
Interview King
Well I think thats about everything, thanks for a great interview, unless you have anything to add?
Speaker
You're welcome, 'twas a pleasure. And nothing to add except... keep swinging those hotel irons!
Interview King
lol thanks again
Speaker
welcome!
